Petrino was a much more qualified candidate than English. Would you rather hire in a coach with head coaching experience both at the college and professional level or D coordinator without any head coaching experience? Not to mention Petrino is a much bigger name and brings instant credibility to your program. I'm pretty sure they didn't hire him because he's white and English is black, but if it makes you feel better to blame racism, then knock yourself out.

Lemme silence all this hott-n-nanny, Ron English is a good coordinator at best. He lacks any Head Coaching Experience thus making him an unlikely candidate for any major D1 position at this point.
Is the position at Michigan within his grasp? Not really, though deep down alumni and the board of regents may flirt with the interim title with him.... though he has Mike Debord ahead of him. Debord as you may recall coached at CMU before Brian Kelly and ran back to be coddled by lloyd after finding out he truly does suck.
Those in the know are not yet giving up on Les Miles. We had Greg Schiano for all of two days, though the big thing seems to be coaches want to keep things on the low. Once news breaks they back out.
A coach will be named after the bowl games.
Stay tuned..

I was wondering when you were going to chim in C to the P It's better for me not to sometimes. There is information I am not allowed to divulge out just as I feel. I feel the same as the majority of fans do, and the naysayers know absolutely nothing. Bill Martin is playing this close attention. These late night flight plans, this search committe he's put together, guy is in control. If he feels good about an instinct, he'll go against everyone else and do his thing. So, I have been under the impression since after the EMU game that Les Miles would be our next head coach, and I still feel the same. I feel the program is suffering in recruiting just as they have the past 2 seasons due to negative recruiting by a slew of coaches. More so Jabba the Hut down in South Bend. The position needs to be filled, these assistants are flying in and out daily working on keeping recruits.

Okay all that sounds good, but who was Bo, before he got the Michigan job, Carr (Michigan), Stoops (Oklahoma), Miles (LSU), Karl Dorrell (UCLA), ect....... Most of these coaches did a good job at their respective schools as a 1st time head coach. So why can't English?

Bo coached at Miami Ohio Stoops has been in the game since 83' Dorrel since 88' Miles since 80' and he coached at Okie State first as a head coach before LSU. English has been in the game for a Decade. His real coaching experience coming just last year being named as a Defensive Coordinator. Blev I like dudes passion and grit, but without no experience and unable to stop the spread, he ain't spit. Don't get it twisted though, I love English and Michigan. He is not qualified.

I hear you but, look at this: Michael Tomlin Coaching History 2007………………Pittsburgh (head coach) 2006………………Minnesota (defensive coordinator) 2001-05…………..Tampa Bay (defensive backs) 1999-00…………..University of Cincinnati (defensive backs) 1998………………Arkansas State (defensive backs) 1997…..................Arkansas State (wide receivers) 1996………………University of Memphis (graduate assistant) 1995………………Virginia Military Institute (wide receivers) This Resume would not qualify him a head coaching job in College, let alone the NFL Look, his been in the for a short stint and Tomlin got a 'NFL Head coaching job', I love CP, but if Tom can in the NFL, I know English can do in the college ranks. Just my Opinion!!

He doesn't have the experience. I think Les was headed our way but it got blown out of proportion. He stepped up and to keep everyone calm at LSU he said what he had to. Following the aftermath LSU steps up with more money and an extension to keep him there. I bet that extension also has something in it about Michigan I'm betting Brian Kelly will be the New Michigan Coach. The man obviously can recruit talent and work with previous talent. Comes into Cincy and uses the players from a previous caoching staff and almost wins the conference and goes 9-3 I believe. One season at Central and he wins the Mac championship and players put up great numbers. Now look at what he accomplished at GVSU. 2 National titles, with less talent and scholarships than what will be available to him at Michigan. The man knows the game and works it from every angle. I think he'll be a good one somewhere if not at UofM

You all and all this experience theory!
Michigan is not going to hire Brian Kelly. They need a big name Coach. And he is there yet. All Michigan wants to is please their fans and alums. Martin did mess up big time, but if he does the right thing, then it should be English. I think he has 'IT' to take the school the another level. He has the tools to through to the players.
So, if they bring in another big name coach. they will end up like basketball team, terrible!!!
