This is to supermarket from (wcw). You said you got in the gym early trying to get an edge, what if you still dont see the field you cant tell me you wouldnt feel like your wasting your time or would you still feel its all about the team? I figgadeals you yes I would be very disappointed cause I set a goal for myself and I rarely fail once I put my mind and efforts into to something I deem worth while. But I am obsessed with the game of football and I believe in loyalty to the cause so I would never think I'm wasting my time, good team or bad team cause like my mans enem said above if thats what it came down to I'M GONE FIND SOME TIME SOMEWHERE(via defense, special teams} whatever i gotta do to smell the grass im gone do it ;D. I believe if any ball player feel ur wasting ur time riding the bench or starting, then you need to leave this game alone before you embarass yourself or get hurt.

This thread is the problem with sports today, My team (Ravens) and probably others, had several players who were STARS on there previous team but came over and made the sacrifice and commitment to winning. Some had a reserve role some played special teams but that is whole concept of the word TEAM!!! if for some reason the "starter" wasn't getting it done another player stepped up and we continued rolling, if you notice the one common denominator for good teams in semi-pro its depth. The only way you will have it is if players but all that selfishness aside and work toward the common goal of winning even if it does cut there time by 10-15 plays a game.

But how long should a player wait. How long should a player wait? Only a player's talent, skill, and desire can answer that question. As I said before....no team keeping STUDS and SUPERSTARS on their bench for LONG and if you are an ELITE talent DARWINIAN THEORY of evolution will find a way, meaning: The reason good teams are good teams is because they find a way to put these guys on the field. Can I be real for a second? The world ain't FAIR and neither is football or any sport for that matter. In college you can be the starting QB....bust your but in 2 a days...... one day and the next season dissed for some new bluechip All American that is suppose to be the next coming of Peyton Manning. Or some guy....whether it be favoritisms, politics, whatever - the coaches just evaluate/rank them higher than you. It's what you do as a competitive football player facing that obstacle and adversity that defines you as a player. Life ain't FAIR. In the real world - God doesn't give everybody the same athletic gifts. Some players bust their but and work their a.s.s off and barely are average players - while some guys do NOTHING and still have the god given talent to be a better than the average baller - ESPECIALLY, in semi pro. Can we concede that we have seen this manifest itself on every level of football - hs, college, and pro? Perhaps the greatest challenge of a young athletes physical and mental development is how he reacts when faced with the true obstacle of - COMPETITION. How does he handle the road block of comparable and superior talent? Does he embrace the challenge to raise the ball....or does he choose the easy road..."Awww they hatin on my skillz...I'm out of here? Ive seen guys actually walk away from a scholarship because of it. Think about it? How many times have we seen this? If you've started on every level of football and was "THE MAN".... how do you react when you go somewhere and there is a whole team of...."THE MAN'S"I guess to answer your question - How long should a player wait? Speaking from a more relative semi-pro sense - if you're good enough with absolutely superior talented.....you wouldn't be on anyone's bench for more than one to two season - or honestly, son, you're not as good as you think. Once again, nobody keepin Reggie Bushes on the bench. If you feel you've done everything possible sacrificed SELF for TEAM, been a ballz out superior player......didn't b.i.t.ch and been supportive player (not slandering fellow teammates)....and I'm not talkin about because you paid money you expect to play.

How many players on the Ravens were starters on lessor teams getting BIG CLOCK......that never won JACK?? I don't know any better way to put it other than it's up to what you really want out this game. This is not an exact science...nor are NFL qualified scouts running semi-pro teams. ..............I know there are a select SMALL few ballers that somehow getting a raw deal and probably should be starting or getting major clock. For them, I say bro....hang in there...keep ballin....I guarantee if you make some noise when you hit the field (meaning making plays) - you will be found. .................their equally are a select few, that for lack of better term - are SELFISH and EGO driven riffs with purely SELFISH motives for starting on a football field. Throughout their whole entire lives it has always been ME-ME with little care other than what's best for SELF. After games they care more about STATS then win/lose. These are the guys that POUT and STORM off when your team has won 28-0 because they didn't get they touches or TD's. These are the guys that FRONT as TEAMMATES, yet - mumble and whisper like snakes on your sideline when a fellow teammate makes a mistake or gives up a big play - "I told you that guy ain't s.h.i.t". THEN when they finally get on the field - THEY DON'T DO JACK or worst yet FREE LANCE for STATS because they so bitter and sour that they could care less what they play is. "DAWG, fucc these coaches.....I'm doin my OWN THANG....I gotta get MINES. These foolz hatin on me." They are snakes that permeate cancer throughout your ballclub - generally over valuating their skills while under valuing and demeaning others. They are scrubs that REFUSE to accept the reality that they just MIGHT.....just MIGHT not be BETTER then the guy ahead of them. DO YOU KNOW OF ANYBODY LIKE THAT?

In defense of players that can produce, with a proper coaching staff WHO KNOWS HOW TO USE SUBS AND WHERE TO DO IT... this can be accomplished and satisfy a "back up" player's thirst for action.
You don't put your second and third teamers in on goaline stand when you can put them in on the 20 comin out for a play or two..
Back up rec can go in on run play away.. use this time as a teaching tool as well. You play next year's players this year..
Secondly, coaches need to know when the game is out of hand, play the all the guys especially the ones that come to practice because this is their NFL as well and this will keep those guys coming back.
Nothing worse than seeing a beatdown and the team has the subs on the bench until 2:00 left on a running clock... When you up by 30 with half the 3rd and whole 4th qtr left,
let the rest of the dawgs eat too.....

But how long should a player wait. "Winners never quit, and quitters never win. But those who never win, but never quit, are just morons."

But how long should a player wait. you wait until it is your time. i played for semi pro football for about 4 years. and i have notice that it's all about match ups. you may not start but you can get a lot of clock. but it's funny how people get mad that they do not start but gets more clock than the starter in some games. most people only get mad because that are not a real team player. I have heard people say you are a scrub because they do not start. But the people that say that is the people in the stands that do not play. I play D line and i was asked to play O line a whole lot i was not a starter but i got a lot of clock. and when i played O line it kept me loose to go get my man's on D line a break. when i was starting and i needed a break. you tap your hat and if my back up was balling i let him play because i was proud of him for balling and doing a good job because in practice it is the back ups that play harder because they want your job.lol so watch your backs starters. because these back ups will stab you in the back. lol

Get the heck outta here. In response to a lot of comments, I have to say that most of them are the biggest bunch of bullshit I have ever heard in my life. Who says that most starters and true ballers dont cry about starting. I have seen so called superstar players on various teams cry just because they dont stay in the game 100% of the time. They get pulled for a play or two and cry like punks. I'll bet any amount of money that if most of the starters on the top 5 teams in Michigan were bench due to favoritism, beef with coach, or (a good reason like...) not paying their players fee, they would be prostitutes of semi-pro. They jump jump ship so fast. Yall aint gonna admit that though huh. Instead yall like to get rid of the coach if yall aint seeing the field. Get real. This is why no one but semipro players take semipro seriously. Bottom line is that if you aint geting paid and you aint playing (but paying your money to play) your the fool. Keep listening to the starters that would do they same thing in your shoes. I aint talking about the people who really are garbage either. The best way to show those players that they are garbage is to give them a play or two in the game and watch them get blown up. And what about teams that blow other teams out, yet their starters are still in the game screaming, "Let me throw 9028 more TD's, let me catch 9742 more passes, let me run for 974 more yards". If thats putting selfness aside, then what the heck would being selfish get you? ? Oh yeah in response to this.....Maybe your payoff is telling your kids you had 57 solos, 3 INT's and 4 fumble recoveries against the MIGHTY MINNESOTA MIDGETS of the POWDER PUFF MISTY SOFTY FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I'd rather have those stats that show I dogged a garbage team than to gloat saying that I won a ring after beating them. Getting credit for that is like the Dolphins getting credit for winning a game this year. YOU AINT GETTING PROPS, THATS WHAT YOUR SUPPOSE TO DO!! I personally aint trying to be the John Salley of semipro football and ride benches to get rings with whoever is good at the time.

You missed the entire point you dumb idiot. Nobody wants to play on a scrub team even if they shining getting stats. It's bums like you who probably never played a day of football in high school, college or even jv yet feel just because you pay your dues and come to practice more then a starter somebody owes you something. If given the opportunity you would have paid to be on the team in H.S. school but they have cuts. You get the heck out of here. just because you pay money dont mean a darn thing. If you have no talent nobody is obligated to start you or give you clock solely because you pay some fees or come to practice. If you want guaranteed clock go participate in a flag league. The one thing you are correct is if you paying money and really not a good football player then you are wasting your time. Nobody owes you anything.
