The above guy needs to stop listening to the huge show. That guy is an idiot, jason garret is not going to UofM. Debord would get it over English because he is more experienced. Not because he is white. Guys, stop bringing race into it. The best guy will get the job, no matter what color he is. Would you rather get the job becuase you deserved it or because you are a black coach?

No one from in house will get this position! Look at what programs Tomlin was with, Tampa Bay when they were doing there best. Everyone from there is doing well coaching and got good jobs. The bears got someone that was on that staff for sometime. Tomlin's been around much more experience than English has. Plus I really don't think we can compare NFL coaches to College coaches. There seems to be a big difference between the 2. Look at the last few college coaches that have tried to make the switch and they don't seem to be doing as well. If English had what they wanted he'd be hired by now. I don't think you can say they want a big name person. Being the Michigan football coach makes you "big Name" coach. Gary Moeller? Llyod Carr? who and what did they do before they took over. they were on the staff. It just so happens that English isn't their choice as of now. The only reason Brian Kelly won't be the next pick is cause is scheme and plays are more than what the big wigs like. Michigan upities like the conservative approach, and it needs to be changed up a bit.

WHO REALLY CARES WHO GETS THE U OF M JOB?? ONLY U OF M FANS!!! FIRST OF ALL WHOEVER GETS THAT JOB, WILL BE IN TROUBLE. GUYS SAY ENGLISH CANT STOP THE SPREAD. BUT REAL TALK, THE REASON THEY CANT STOP THE SPREAD, IS BECAUSE THERE TEAM IS BUILT FOR BIG OLD SCHOOL SIMPLE AS5 FOOTBALL PLAYERS. THEY ONLY HAD ONE GUY ON DEFENSE THAT WAS "ATHLETIC" AND THAT WAS SHAWN CRABLE. HE CAME INTO M PLAYING SAFETY, BUT WENT TO END THEN LB AND BACK TO END, U OF M DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO RECRUIT ATHLETES. THEY ONLY RECRUIT POCKET PASSER WHO CANT RUN AND IF THEY DO RECRUIT A SCRAMBLING QB, HE GOES TO WR AND NEVER PLAYS. UNTIL THEY DO A BETTER JOB RECRUITING, THEY WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO LAND A "BIG NAME" COACH OR "BIG NAME" RECRUITS. THEY NEED TO CHANGE THE ENTIRE COACHING STRATEGY AND CATCH UP WITH THE TIMES. UNTIL THEN, THEY WILL NOT BEAT THE OHIO STATES, THE OREGON'S, OR THE FLORIDA'S. WHO IS GOING TO PUT 50 ON THEY AS5.

As far as recruiting goes, it's not that they cannot recruit athletes. It's that they do not take chances on kids with problems. Granted players often come and get into trouble, but looking back those who do get into trouble are dealt with swiftly. Keston Cheatom, Jonny Sears, Chris Richards... just to name a few Just beat Florida in 2003.

expect more updates like yesterday’s - one in which we shot down “leading” or “serious” candidates like Wake Forest’s Jim Grobe, Delaware’s K.C. Keeler and Cal’s Jeff Tedford. Expect names to continue to emerge throughout the remainder of the search, but most will be names simply thrown out as possibilities.
As we said in yesterday’s update, despite some bumps in the road, things have settled down considerably and many leaks have been plugged. We believe the search is headed in the right direction (and remember, we’ve been critical when it didn’t appear to be, so this is more significant than some might realize).
Those who believe there is no list and that those in charge (no, it’s not just President Mary Sue Coleman) aren’t doing anything but sitting on their hands - well, don’t believe it. The list continues to shorten, and there’s progress made each day.
As we’ve said … at this point, we expect the search to go into January. Interim and in-house candidates still appear to be (extreme) fallback candidates.
It’s likely going to remain quiet over the next several days, but that’s probably a good thing at this point. That certainly doesn’t mean the wheels aren’t in motion.

the only coach that michigan will get is a coach who is willing to take on the thought of going 10-0 and losing to osu ( just makes me wanna throw up just typing those letters) and having everyone say he is not the coach for us and continue to be there. if there are any big name coaches who wants that headache out there....I dont know. are there any coaches out there willing to leave a place where they can go 8-3 every year and be concsidered the darling of the ball or go 11-1 for five years with all of those loses coming from the "other school" and be considered the man who cant coach

I would really consider asking Lloyd to come back for one more season and see what will be out there next off-season. I don't think the timing is right to get a quality coach. I think Lloyd would do it too, because he cares so much about Michigan. They wont ask him too though, but I think that would be best for the whole program.

CP,
IM GLAD YOUR A U OF M FAN. ITS NOT LKIE THEY DON'T HAVE ENOUGH. U OF M DOES A HORRIBLE JOB RECRUITING. THEY DON'T RECRUIT DETROIT WHICH HAS THE BEST ATHLETES IN THE STATE, BUT BECAUSE THEY ARE RAW OR NOT COACHED BY THE HARRISON'S OR THE TROY'S OR CLARKSTON' OR ANY OTHER TEAM WITH A BIG NAME HIGH SCHOOL COACH, THEY WONT GET THEM. SOME MAY SAY THE CITY KIDS DON'T HAVE THE GRADES, BUT THE TRUE REASON IS THEY DON'T WANT A CITY KID IS BECAUSE THEY DONT FIT THE U OF M MOLD!!!! TWO PARENT HOME, MIDDLE TO UPPER CLASS, YES SIR NO SIR TYPE, NO PANTS SAGGING, NO BRAIDS HAVING "THUG" PERSONALITY HAVING KIDS. TO REALLY KEEP IT REAL, THEY DON'T HAVE ANY "BROTHAS" ON THIER TEAM. THE LAST TIME THEY HAD "BROTHAS" ON THEIR TEAM WAS IN 1997. THE YEAR THEY WON THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. UNTIL THEY GET SOME "BROTHAS" ON THE TEAM, THEY WILL NOT BEAT THE OSU'S AND OREGON'S ETC....... AND ONCE AGAIN, FLORIDA ( WHO HAS BROTHAS ON THEIR TEAM) WILL PUT 50 ON THEM!!!!!!!

Man that is some crazy talk right there. I bet many of those from the 1997 squad would have a few choice words for ya as well as some of the players since 1997. Some body's always gotta go and make something out of nothing. Why is it a racial thing about what type of black man attends the school.

Geez, WHO CARES you my friend are an idiot. If you think that wins are determined by skin color and how "thuggish" the team makeup is, do us a favor and shut up. You obviously dont know anything about football if you think thuggin conveys football talent. Or are you stating that Michigan has a bunch of uncle toms and that the players arent black enough for you?... idiot...
As for English and the head coach search goes... UofM defense sucked! Why put him in charge? And why are they focusing on coaches who will bring in another offensive scheme? It wasnt the offense that needs help...

This is funny. It is true that UM doesn't recruit Detroit very well. In fact, until recently, MSU didn't recruit Detroit much either. I don't understand your "brothas" argument. Miami has a team full of "brothas" and they're garbage.

Lemme silence all this hott-n-nanny, Ron English is a good coordinator at best. He lacks any Head Coaching Experience thus making him an unlikely candidate for any major D1 position at this point. Is the position at Michigan within his grasp? Not really, though deep down alumni and the board of regents may flirt with the interim title with him.... though he has Mike Debord ahead of him. Debord as you may recall coached at CMU before Brian Kelly and ran back to be coddled by lloyd after finding out he truly does suck. Those in the know are not yet giving up on Les Miles. We had Greg Schiano for all of two days, though the big thing seems to be coaches want to keep things on the low. Once news breaks they back out. A coach will be named after the bowl games. Stay tuned.. This is the same coordinatoor who NEVER checked out of COVER 2 while Appy State ran that butt. Or the same coordinatoor that got their azzes cooked the following week vs. Oregon. Can Ron English be the front man for one the biggest LAW Schools in the country.. Real Talk..

the problem is that detroit is so segragated that we don't look to see how things are done elsewhere (talking about football) in general. take a look at where the majority of big college atheletes come from... cali, texas, florida, heck anywhere down south. now take a look at the makeups of their schools, and i don't mean suburban or inner city seperate; take a look as a whole. the burbs have black coaches as well as black players and same goes for the inner city schools for the most part. what i am trying to say is that we in the state of michigan are all ignorant because we seem to all see things by the color of someones skin. i bet not to many of the people on here know who lou tepper is/was but read this article and maybe it may enlighten some of u who as he puts it.. choose to save time. www.deil.uiuc.edu/eslservice/units/collegesports/cscuw.htm
