I am a believer. Great meeting. Coach S laid it out and it will be a whole new attitude. Love the Cleveland Lions joining us. Big help. That Hoss dude is something else. One of the best speeches I have heard since college. The dude is the real deal and knows his football. Came across like some of the other post have said.. Seems like a good dude with a great attitude and connected.
Batman, you have made many of us very happy and I see big changes in attitude and structure and coaching, something we have been lacking in a while. Welcome aboard Coach S and Coach Hoss. Nole Fever will be back on top in 2008. Players will be coming out just to be part of the new machine.

That meeting was one of the best meetings Ive been to. It felt like a pro press conference. All these bozos that said it can't be done should have come to the meeting. It was laid out in black and white.
Batman, Ted & Hoss thank you bro's. That presentation had me about to tackle my wife when I got home. If this is a preview of what is to come then wow. I see exactly why those Force players were mad and upset losing these guys. Oh well, one mans garbage is another man's treasure.
Just the talent along in that meeting is practically an All-Star team in itself. I can't wait till the season starts. This is going to be some New England Patriot shiiiitz.

Curious in regards to off-season conditioning program, mandatory or voluntary, and if any bodyweight targets for offensive linemen who had obvious weight problems in the past. Also, has any don't practice, don't play rules been implemented or is that up to descression of coaches(especially in regards to long distance traveling) I have always advocated some "professional Strongman training for OL and DL and other players, a lot of NFL teams are using strongman training and equipment techniques to one degree or another especially for stamina.

Alot of the conditioning and lifting is to be done on your own. It's about ACCOUNTABILITY and if you want to be with the Seminoles you have to work hard on your own and be ready to ball whe given the oppurtunity!

I ask only in regards to what seems to be a big problem with horribly obese players in minor league ball who not only compromise their playing capabilities but put their own long term lives in jeopardy by the condition they are in.
The majority of players are workout and gym rats who keep themselves in prime condition not only for performance reasons but safety reasons as well. I also understand the situation with so many teams looking for players that "take whoever and whatever" you can get in the byline. Maybe putting their playing time and/or their team position on the line may be more incentive for them to lose some weight and aquire better conditioning for themselves if nothing else.

Clayton:
Appreciate your interest in the health and welfare of the Noles offensive line. As the new offensive coordinator/OL coach for the Noles, I consider offseason trainning as a mandatory-voluntary committment: Mandatory if you want to contribute on the field - Voluntary if you want to ride the bench or not even make the squad. Big bodies for the O-line are always at a premimum in semipro football; skilled linemen on most teams are a luxury. From what I saw yesterday, the 08 Noles will have big & skilled linemen across the entire front, with quality depth on the bench.
My job is to maximize the potential of every lineman from now until the end of next season; and to coordinate our efforts up front into efficient schemes. Linemen know what it takes to get ready in the weigth room during the offseason. I hope to provide the hogs with some additional programs which will work CORE strength, and also provide band resistance exercises to develop strength throughout the base and hips. As a starting offensive lineman for the Cleveland Lions at 37 years of age, I know what it takes to prepare your body for the rigors of the battle in the trenches at an advanced age. And yes, functional cardiovascular trainning is necessary for linemen. The Noles quickly learn that I'm a big fan of functional trainning. If it can not directly translate to improved performance on the field, then it has no part of my trainning program. Line coaches that waste their time in practice doing "monkey rolls" should be shot. Believe me, if I ever see one of my hogs rolling around on his back during the game; he will quickly be rolling around on the sideline.
I look forward to working will all the Noles in 08 and especially the hogs. As the process gets rolling, I will be personally contacting all the O linemen within the next couple weeks to help with construction of their offseason preparation.

Westside Barbell training can do alot for football players as well as power lifters. As for what I'm doing we'll just have to sit back and watch ;D It should be a good time
