“The undefeated (15-0) Ice Storm, of the Empire Football League, led all AFA Member teams in head-to-head competition against other AFA member teams in past season and their players, coaches, administrators and fans justly deserve this national recognition”, stated the AFA President, Ron Real from his office in Sarasota, Florida. The names of the Ice Storm players and coaches will be engraved on the National Championship Trophy, the Arthur S. Arkush Memorial Cup. For the past 28 years the AFA has been sponsoring the national championship series format for their member semi-pro football organizations nationwide.
The Arkush Cup currently stands 4.5’ high by 2.5’ wide and is encased in a 7 foot high lighted glass display case in the AFA national office in Sarasota, Florida. Adding the engraved names of the 2007 Ice Storm National Championship players and coaches will bring the engraved name total to 1680 names. In addition, the new AFA National Champions for 2007 will receive a 3’ x 5’ AFA Triple-A National Championship banner depicting their accomplishment as well as 2007 National Championship embroidered jersey patches to display during the coming year of competition.
Although the selection was made during the American Football Association’s national meetings and the 27th annual Hall of Fame Induction in Sarasota, Florida on December 7th, 2007, the results were not announced until now at the request of the AFA President Ron Real to help eliminate confusion between the AFA National Championship and other national title games currently being promoted across the country by independent organizations.
